Diffa, the capital of the Diffa region in southeastern Niger, is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and shares a border with Nigeria, making it one of the most important border cities in Niger. The city is located in the lower Niger River basin around the climate of the tropical desert climate, hot and dry throughout the year, the average annual precipitation is less than 300 millimeters. The economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, and the surrounding areas are rich in millet, sorghum and livestock. Diffa, as a regional trade center, undertakes the function of cross-border trade with neighboring countries, such as Nigeria, and is especially famous for the trade of livestock, agricultural products and handicrafts. The city is culturally diverse, with Hausa, Tuareg and Kanuri ethnic groups living in the area, and is unique in its crafts such as traditional leather weaving and silversmithing. Despite infrastructural challenges, Diffa remains an important economic and cultural node in the south-east of the Niger, thanks to its strategic location and rich cultural heritage.
The town of Tianzhong is located in the southeastern part of Changhua County, Taiwan Province of China, at the junction of the Changhua Plain and the Bagua Plateau. The area was formerly known as "Tianzhong", so named because it was surrounded by rice paddies during its early development. With a total area of about 34.6 square kilometers and a population of about 40,000, it is a typical agricultural market town.
Tianzhong Township has the Tianzhong Station of the Taiwan Railway Longitudinal Line, and the Changhua Station of the High Speed Rail is also located here, making it an important transportation node. The town produces high-quality rice, honey and fruits, and the annual "Tanaka Marathon" has become a well-known event in Taiwan. The town also retains traditional cultural buildings such as the century-old Gushan Temple and Chautian Palace.
Adjacent to the Bagua Mountain Range on the east side, the town is rich in natural ecological resources. The local residents are predominantly of Minnan descent and retain strong Minnan cultural traditions, including Taiwanese opera, traditional festivals and other folk activities. In recent years, it has been actively developing tourist agriculture, combining rice landscapes with bicycle paths to create a unique tourism experience.
