Diffa, the capital of the Diffa region in southeastern Niger, is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and shares a border with Nigeria, making it one of the most important border cities in Niger. The city is located in the lower Niger River basin around the climate of the tropical desert climate, hot and dry throughout the year, the average annual precipitation is less than 300 millimeters. The economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, and the surrounding areas are rich in millet, sorghum and livestock. Diffa, as a regional trade center, undertakes the function of cross-border trade with neighboring countries, such as Nigeria, and is especially famous for the trade of livestock, agricultural products and handicrafts. The city is culturally diverse, with Hausa, Tuareg and Kanuri ethnic groups living in the area, and is unique in its crafts such as traditional leather weaving and silversmithing. Despite infrastructural challenges, Diffa remains an important economic and cultural node in the south-east of the Niger, thanks to its strategic location and rich cultural heritage.
Huai'an, located in the north-central part of Jiangsu Province, is an important city in northern Jiangsu Province and a famous historical and cultural city. It is located at the confluence of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Huai River, and is known as the "Canal Capital". The city covers an area of 10,072 square kilometers and has a population of over 4.5 million, with districts and counties such as Qingjiangpu and Huaiyin under its jurisdiction.
As the hometown of Premier Zhou Enlai, Huai'an is rich in cultural heritage and tourism resources, such as the Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall, Huai'an Prefectural Office, and the Ancient Town under the River. Its food culture is unique and famous for Huaiyang cuisine, with dishes such as soft-pocket long fish and Pingqiao tofu renowned nationwide. Modern industries are dominated by electronic information and food processing, and the economy continues to grow, with convenient transportation and a perfect network of high-speed railroads and highways.
Huai'an blends ancient water town style with modern urban vitality, and is an important regional center and tourist destination in Jiangsu Province.
