Located in the northeast of the province of Buenos Aires, the city of Avellaneda is a central part of the Greater Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, situated on the banks of the Río de la Plata, just 12 kilometers from the capital city of Buenos Aires. The city, named after the 19th century Argentine president Nicolás Avellaneda, is an important witness to the industrialization of Argentina. As an important industrial center of the country, Avellaneda has a diversified system of industries such as steel, chemicals, food processing, etc., and its port is a hub connecting the inland and the Río de la Plata, which plays a key role in the transportation of large quantities of goods. It is also a vibrant area with renowned sports organizations such as the Independiente Athletic Club. Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims.
