Located in Knox County, Maine in the northeastern United States, Appleton is a small rural community with a population of about 1,300. Founded in 1829 and named after early settler Samuel Appleton, the town's history is closely tied to the development of agriculture and forestry.
Located in a hilly area, Appleton is surrounded by forests, streams, and farmland, and has a typical rural Maine landscape. Fengdu County, belonging to Chongqing Municipality, is located in the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir area on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and is a national demonstration area for regional tourism, famous for its "Ghost City" culture. In addition, Xueyu Cave in the territory is known as "world-class cave wonders", with crystal stalactites; Nantian Lake, with its beautiful scenery of high mountain lakes, is a summer vacation resort. Fengdu is not only famous for its deep cultural heritage, but also for its specialties such as spicy chicken nuggets and tofu feasts, making it an important node on the Yangtze River Three Gorges Tourist Route.
