Located in Knox County, Maine in the northeastern United States, Appleton is a small rural community with a population of about 1,300. Founded in 1829 and named after early settler Samuel Appleton, the town's history is closely tied to the development of agriculture and forestry.

Chong'an is the core district of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China, located in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Circle.
