Akonolinga is an important town in the Central Province of Cameroon, located about 150 kilometers east of the capital city of Yaoundé, on the edge of the tropical rainforest, where a tributary of the Sangha River flows through. The city's core economic pillar is agriculture, and the surrounding area is rich in cash crops such as cocoa, coffee and palm oil, making it an important distribution center for agricultural products in the region. With a population of around 120,000, the local population is dominated by the Fang and Bamileke ethnic groups, and is active in traditional crafts and market trade. Despite its relatively simple infrastructure, Akonolinga is becoming a transportation hub connecting the central and eastern regions of Cameroon by virtue of its location, and a gateway for exploring the region's natural ecology and tribal culture.
