Zafarobod, located in the Sogd Oblast of northern Tajikistan, is an important border city and industrial center of the country, close to the border with Uzbekistan. As one of the economic hubs of the Sogd oblast, the city is home to a number of large-scale factories that provide a large number of local jobs, mainly in the machine building, textile and agro-processing industries. Located on the edge of the Fergana Basin, Zafarobod has a mild climate and its agriculture is based on the cultivation of cotton, wheat, and fruits and vegetables. Although the city is not large, but convenient transportation, through the highway connecting the capital Dushanbe and neighboring countries, is an important node of trade between northern Tajikistan and Central Asia. In recent years, with the promotion of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, the city's infrastructure construction and foreign cooperation have been gradually strengthened, showing development potential.
