Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin, China

Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture is located in the eastern part of Jilin Province, China, at the border of China, Russia and North Korea, and is the geographical center of Northeast Asia. Founded in 1952, it is the only Korean Autonomous Prefecture in China, with Yanji City as its capital. With an area of 42,700 square kilometers and a population of about 2.14 million, ethnic Koreans account for 36.5% of the total population, retaining a strong Korean cultural and linguistic characteristics.
