Xishui County is located in the east of Hubei Province, on the north bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, belonging to Huanggang City, at the junction of Ezhou, Yuzhou and Anhui provinces, and has been the key point of the "Seven Provinces' Thoroughfare" since ancient times. With a total area of about 1970 square kilometers and a population of more than one million, the county is the hometown of Wen Yiduo, a famous poet and scholar, and is known as the "Cultural Hub of East Hubei". The Xishui River meanders through the city, which has nurtured a profound history and culture, such as the Song Dynasty city building site, the Temple of Literature in the Qing Dynasty and other monuments. The Triangle Mountain Forest Park, Bailian River Reservoir and other natural landscapes are rich in ecological resources. Located about 100 kilometers southeast of the main island of New Caledonia in the South Pacific, Île des Pins is one of the outlying islands of French New Caledonia.
