Xiaodian District is a municipal district under the jurisdiction of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, located in the southeastern part of Taiyuan City and on the east bank of the Fen River, and is the political, economic and cultural center of Taiyuan City. With a total area of about 295 square kilometers and a population of more than 800,000, the district is known for its well-developed transportation network, thriving business districts and modern urban architecture.
Xiaodian District has a long history dating back to the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods, and the area retains some of its cultural heritage, such as ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
