Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is located in the northwestern part of Hunan Province, in the middle of the Wuling Mountains, at the junction of Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and Guizhou, and is known as the "Gateway to Northwest Hunan". There are 28 ethnic groups living here, including Tujia, Miao and Han, and the rich ethnic flavor blends with the landscape, giving birth to the unique charm of "Mysterious Western Hunan". Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, a world natural heritage, Furong Town, a thousand-year-old town, and Fenghuang Ancient Town, the most beautiful small city in China, are located here, while Shen Congwen's former residence and the ruins of Laosicheng City tell a rich history. Non-heritage cultures such as the Tujia Hand Dance, Miao Silver Jewelry, and the New Year's Eve Festival have been passed down vividly, and the flavorful food such as western Hunan bacon and Miao fish in sour soup is mouth-watering. This piece of land combines natural wonders, humanistic heritage and ethnic customs, and is a must-visit place to experience the original western Hunan culture.
Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
