Xiahe, belonging to Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu Province, is situated on the northeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau and is one of the cultural centers of the Amdo Tibetan area. Chicheng County is located in the northwestern part of China's Hebei Province, under Zhangjiakou Municipality, and is situated in the transition zone between the Yanshan Mountains and the Inner Mongolian Plateau, with a total area of 5,287 square kilometers.
