Wuling is located in the northwestern part of China's Hunan Province and is the core area of Zhangjiajie City, known for the World Natural Heritage Wulingyuan Scenic Spot. This area, which covers the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Suoxiyu Nature Reserve, is listed as a UNESCO World Geopark for its unique quartz sandstone peak forest landscape. Thousands of rocky peaks rise up, surrounded by clouds and mist like a fairyland, and were the inspiration for the Hallelujah Mountains in the movie Avatar.
Wuling is not only blessed with magnificent natural landscapes, but also rich in the cultures of the Tujia, Miao and other ethnic minorities. The local traditional villages, folklore performances and specialties (such as Tujia bacon) demonstrate the deep humanistic heritage.
