Wuling, Hunan, China: Natural Wonders and Human Treasures

Wuling is located in the northwestern part of China's Hunan Province and is the core area of Zhangjiajie City, known for the World Natural Heritage Wulingyuan Scenic Spot. This area, which covers the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Suoxiyu Nature Reserve, is listed as a UNESCO World Geopark for its unique quartz sandstone peak forest landscape. Thousands of rocky peaks rise up, surrounded by clouds and mist like a fairyland, and were the inspiration for the Hallelujah Mountains in the movie Avatar.

Wuling is not only blessed with magnificent natural landscapes, but also rich in the cultures of the Tujia, Miao and other ethnic minorities. The local traditional villages, folklore performances and specialties (such as Tujia bacon) demonstrate the deep humanistic heritage. As an eco-tourism destination, it offers hiking, photography and adventure activities, attracting millions of tourists annually, and is one of China's first 5A-level tourist attractions.

Amuria, Uganda: Regional Center and Agricultural Hub of Eastern Uganda

Amuria is the regional capital of Eastern Uganda, part of the Eastern Region, and is located in the interior of Uganda on the border with Kenya, with a predominantly savannah climate and distinct wet and dry seasons. As the administrative and economic center of the region, Amuria has a population of about 200,000 (estimated in 2023), with a predominantly Iteso population. Agriculture is the mainstay of the industry, producing cotton, millet, cassava and groundnuts, and animal husbandry is relatively well-developed, with extensive cattle and goat farming. Although infrastructure is still being developed, Amuria is emerging as a core area for agricultural trade and services in Eastern Uganda by virtue of its position as a transportation hub connecting to the surrounding region, and the local culture, which retains its traditional tribal dances and handicrafts, attracts tourists interested in the rural culture of East Africa.
