Wetenskap is a small town in northern Suriname, located along the Suriname River within the capital city of Paramaribo and is part of the Paramaribo District. As one of the important towns in Suriname, Wetikamba is known for its multiculturalism and tropical nature. The local population consists mainly of Creoles, Indians and indigenous people, and the languages are predominantly Dutch (the official language), Surinamese and Hindustani. Economic activity is based on agriculture, fishing and small-scale commerce, and the surrounding area is rich in tropical crops such as bananas and rice. Vitikamba still retains some of its colonial architecture, blending Caribbean and South American cultural features, and is one of the epitomes of Suriname's multiculturalism. Despite its small size, its unique location and cultural heritage make it an ideal destination for exploring Suriname's native flavor.
