Winterville is a historic unincorporated community located in Washington County, Mississippi, United States. It is known for its abundance of archaeological sites and Native American cultural relics, particularly the Winterville Mounds, which were an important religious and political center during the Mississippian culture period (c. AD 1000-1450). Today, the Winterville Mounds are listed as a National Historic Landmark and house a museum showcasing Native life and art.
