West Point is a prominent community on the Atlantic coast west of Liberia's capital, Monrovia, located near the mouth of the St. Paul River, with an area of about 0.4 square kilometers, densely populated, and one of the most vibrant communities in Monrovia. With fishing and trading as its main economic activities, the residents are mostly local fishermen and artisans, and the community retains a strong traditional Liberian cultural atmosphere. Despite challenges such as poor infrastructure and limited sanitation, West Point is known for its welcoming residents, unique music and dance arts, and is a window into grassroots life in Monrovia. As one of Liberia's historic communities, West Point has witnessed the country's growth and change and is an important gathering place for cultural and sporting activities for local youth.
Bata is Equatorial Guinea's largest port city and the economic center of the continental region, located along the Gulf of Guinea in west-central Africa.
