As the "City of Roses", Welland is famous for its annual summer Rose Festival and the beautiful rose gardens in the city center. The city's most important landmark is the Welland Canal, a navigable waterway connecting Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, which runs through the city and features a unique tunnel design in some sections, making it an important industrial and historical legacy for the region. With an economy dominated by manufacturing and logistics, and a livable community with a well-developed park system and outdoor recreation facilities, Welland is a low-key destination for living and traveling along the Lake Ontario shoreline.
