Welland is a city in southern Ontario, Canada, located in the Niagara Region, close to the U.S. border with New York State and about 20 kilometers from Niagara Falls. As the "City of Roses", Welland is famous for its annual summer Rose Festival and the beautiful rose gardens in the city center. The city's most important landmark is the Welland Canal, a navigable waterway connecting Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, which runs through the city and features a unique tunnel design in some sections, making it an important industrial and historical legacy for the region. With an economy dominated by manufacturing and logistics, and a livable community with a well-developed park system and outdoor recreation facilities, Welland is a low-key destination for living and traveling along the Lake Ontario shoreline.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
