Weevold (Weesp) is a historic city in the Dutch province of North Holland, located about 15 kilometers southeast of Amsterdam, next to the Amstel River. The city, known for its well-preserved 17th- and 18th-century architecture, old fortifications and windmills, was officially incorporated into the City of Amsterdam in 2019 as its eighth district.
Werwald has more than 750 years of founding history, and the city center is listed as a nationally protected heritage site. Iconic buildings include defenses such as the Weywald Town Hall, the Van Hohendorp Brewery, and the Star Fortress. Built along the canals, the city retains its typical Dutch waterfront appearance and attracts many visitors to the Weywald Music Festival held every summer.
As part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area, Verwoerd is known for its chocolate production (such as the Van Houten factory) and beer brewing. With a train station, 15 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station, and close proximity to the A1 and A9 highways, the city combines historical charm with modern accessibility.
Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
