Vik is a small town on Iceland's southern coast, with a population of less than 300, but known for its spectacular natural beauty. With Europe's southernmost coastline, the iconic black sand beaches are made of volcanic basalt, and the waves lapping against the black pebbles create a striking visual impact. Nearby, the Reynisfjara waterfall plunges into the Atlantic Ocean and is surrounded by a cluster of basalt columns, which legend says are the work of giants. The town is also surrounded by glaciers, volcanoes and tundra, making it an ideal spot for viewing the Northern Lights and the Midnight Sun. Though small, Vik epitomizes Iceland's natural beauty and attracts visitors from all over the world to explore this rawness and purity.
Pemba is the capital of Mozambique's Maputo Province, the country's second largest city, and an important port and economic center located along the Mozambique Channel. The city's blend of colonial flavor and modern energy is known for its well-preserved Portuguese colonial architecture, including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Fortaleza de São João, which bears witness to the vicissitudes of more than 500 years of history. With long stretches of golden beaches such as Tofari Beach, Pemba is a popular tourist destination in East Africa, attracting surfers and divers. As a cultural and commercial hub, the local area is a blend of traditional cultures of the Makonde and Macanja tribes, with unique seafood cuisine and handicrafts, and is a gateway to exploring the natural and human charms of southern Mozambique.
