Vainilale is a historic town in the Manatoto District of East Timor, located about 30 kilometers southeast of the capital city of Dili, nestled in a hilly area at a high elevation with a cool and pleasant climate. The town is known for its well-preserved Portuguese colonial architecture, including old churches, stone-built houses, and the ruins of a former prison, showcasing Timor-Leste's multicultural historical blend. The local population relies mainly on agriculture for its livelihood, growing crops such as coffee and corn, and traditional crafts such as weaving and pottery are also featured.
