Located on the northern coast of Puerto Rico in the San Juan metropolitan area, about 30 minutes from the capital, San Juan, Vega Alta is one of the Caribbean's most charming cities in terms of both nature and people. Known as an "oasis," this small city of about 60,000 people is surrounded by the Carite State Forest, which offers a wealth of hiking trails and ecological landscapes, making it a hidden destination for rainforest enthusiasts. The area is steeped in history, with the colonial-era Santa Margarita Church as a landmark, and the annual "Fiesta de la Cruz" traditional festival, which blends Spanish and indigenous cultures, attracts visitors to experience local folklore. The economy is based on agriculture (tropical fruits and vegetables) and small-scale manufacturing, but in recent years it has taken advantage of its proximity to San Juan to develop eco-tourism and recreation, making it a peaceful and vibrant city to live in northern Puerto Rico.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
