Valmiera is the core city of the Vidzeme region in northern Latvia, situated on the banks of the river Gauja, about 100 kilometers from the capital Riga, and is one of the country's important industrial and transportation hubs. The city has a long history, having been an important commercial stronghold in medieval times, and retains historical buildings such as the neo-Gothic St. Simon's Church. As the administrative center of the Viseme region, Valmiera has an economy based on machine building, food processing and timber industry, while gradually developing eco-tourism based on the natural beauty of the surrounding area. There is a wealth of cultural activities in the region, and the annual Valmiera Summer Music Festival attracts many visitors, making it an ideal destination to experience Latvia's blend of tradition and modernity.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
