Tuen Mun is located in the western part of the New Territories and is one of the most important new towns in Hong Kong. The area is steeped in history, having been an important port on the Maritime Silk Road in ancient times, where the famous "Battle of Tuen Mun" took place. Modern Tuen Mun is mainly a residential area, supplemented by industrial and commercial areas. It is easily accessible by public transportation, with the Tuen Mun Light Rail network covering the whole district and the West Rail Line providing a fast connection to the urban area.
