Located in the eastern part of the European part of Russia, in the western part of the Republic of Tatarstan, on the banks of the Kama River, a tributary of the left bank of the Volga, Tsvelitsk (Чистополь) is the administrative center of the Tsvelitsk District. Founded in the 18th century, this historic city has a strong industrial base, with machine building, chemical and food processing as its main industries, and a number of large enterprises, making it an important economic hub for the region. The city stretches along the Kama River and has a beautiful landscape, combining the vitality of an industrial city with the tranquility of a riverside town, with a population of about 60,000 people.
