Located in the central part of Miaoli County, Taiwan Province of China, Touya is a typical Hakka settlement township. The township is bordered by Shihtan Township to the east and Miaoli City to the west, with a total area of 52.5046 square kilometers and a population of about 11,000 people. There is the Mingde Reservoir, an important water conservancy facility that serves both irrigation and sightseeing functions, and the beautiful scenery along the lake is a famous local attraction.
Touya was formerly known as "Kantouya", named after the river terrace where most of the houses were built during the early development. The economy is based on agriculture, with specialties such as tea, mandarin oranges, and pomelo. In terms of transportation, the township relies on the Taiwan 13th line highway to connect with neighboring towns, forming an important regional contact network.
The township retains a strong Hakka cultural tradition and organizes a number of folk activities each year, while actively developing the ecotourism industry, combining reservoir landscapes with tea plantations to form a unique leisure agriculture experience area.
