Located in the northern part of Miaoli County, Taiwan Province of China, Toufen is the most populous administrative area in the county. As an important part of the Zhunan Science Park, Toufen has seen a booming high-tech industry in recent years, and has become an important base for Taiwan's semiconductor and photovoltaic industries. The city is conveniently connected to neighboring metropolitan areas via the Taiwan Railway Longitudinal Line and the Zhongshan Expressway.
Toufen retains a strong Hakka village culture, and the annual "Toufen April 8" Hakka opera performance on the 20th day of the first month of the lunar calendar is an important cultural celebration in the area. In terms of natural scenery, the Yonghe Mountain Reservoir provides open space, and the Shitou Mountain Scenic Area is home to a number of centuries-old Buddhist temples and ancient paths. Traditional food includes Hakka noodles, braised pork, and other local specialties.
This city, which combines technological industries with traditional cultural heritage, is continuing to promote industrial upgrading and tourism development, demonstrating the modern vitality of county-level cities in Taiwan.
Ruby is a small incorporated town in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located about 60 miles northeast of the state capital of Baton Rouge and adjacent to the Mississippi border, and characterized by a quiet rural atmosphere and a deep community culture. Sparsely populated, with fewer than 500 people according to the most recent census, the town dates back to the late 1800s and, with its early rise to an agricultural economy (e.g., cotton and soybean farming), still retains the rustic look of a traditional Southern town. The town's landmarks include a century-old community church and several Victorian-style homes, and the annual fall "Ruby Family Day," which blends elements of local Cajun and Creole culture, has become a shared memory for the surrounding residents. Despite its small size, Ruby epitomizes the serenity of the American countryside with its simple folk and distinctive Louisiana southern flavor.
