Tongzhou, now known as Tongzhou District in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta on the eastern coast of China. The area has a long history, with human activities as early as the Neolithic Age, and its establishment can be traced back to the period of the North and South Dynasties.
