Tongxiao Township is located in the southwest of Miaoli County, Taiwan, China, bordering the Taiwan Strait to the west, and is a typical coastal town. It has an area of about 107.8 square kilometers and a population of about 35,000 people. The old name of the town was "Tunxiao", which originated from the phonetic translation of the Pingpu aborigines, and was later renamed to its present name in 1920.
Tunxiao has a wealth of natural landscape resources, including the Tunxiao Coastal Recreation Park, the Tunxiao Beach and Qiu Mao Yuan and other well-known attractions. Hutou Mountain Park is only 93 meters above sea level, but it is the site of an important military monument on the west coast of Taiwan, with the remains of a fort built during the Japanese colonial period and a viewing platform overlooking the Taiwan Strait.
The local economy is based on agriculture, fishing and tourism, with crops such as watermelons and peanuts in abundance. The Tongxiao Power Plant is an important power facility in Taiwan, and has developed into a green energy demonstration base in recent years. The annual Watermelon Festival and A-Ma Cultural Festival are important folkloric events in the area, attracting many tourists.
Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
