Tonghua is a border city with rich history, culture and natural resources located in the south-eastern part of Jilin Province, China, at the southwestern foot of Changbai Mountain and across the Yalu River from North Korea. As an important pharmaceutical city in China, Tonghua is known as the "Pharmaceutical Capital" and is home to a number of well-known pharmaceutical companies. With four distinct seasons and abundant snow and ice resources in winter, Tonghua is an ideal destination for skiing and snow tourism. Tonghua is also famous for its wine industry and is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Wine". Surrounded by virgin forests and volcanic landscapes, the city's tourism resources include Goguryeo cultural relics and monuments, and the Wuwu Peak National Forest Park, combining natural scenery with human history. The city is conveniently connected to major cities in and outside of Jilin Province by highways and railroads.
