Tongguan Pass is located in Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, China, and is the eastern gate of Guanzhong Plain, historically known as the "First Pass in the World". Located at the junction of Shaanxi, Jin and Henan provinces, where the Yellow River meets the Wei River, Tongguan is a dangerous geographical position and has been a place of contention for soldiers since ancient times. With a long history dating back to the Han Dynasty, Tongguan was once an important node of the ancient Silk Road and military defense. Attractions include the ancient city of Tongguan, the Yellow River Scenic Area and the ruins of the Twelve Lianchengs. The city has a rich cultural heritage and is famous for its "Eight Scenic Spots of Tongguan".
