Tong'an District is located on the southeast coast of Fujian Province, China, and is now one of the six jurisdictions of Xiamen City, located in the center of the Golden Triangle of Southern Fujian. As one of the birthplaces of Southern Fujian culture, Tong'an has a history of more than 1,700 years and was once a county-level administrative district, preserving a large number of historical relics and traditional culture.
Tong'an is famous for its historical and cultural attractions such as the ancient red-brick Minnan architecture, Confucius Temple (Temple of Literature), Fantian Temple, and Su Song's former residence. Beichen Mountain Scenic Area and Tingxi Reservoir have beautiful natural scenery, and are rich in agricultural products such as longan and peanuts. Traditional folklore such as Gezai Opera, Nanyin and other intangible cultural heritage are abundant.
Tong'an is bordered by Xiang'an District to the east and Zhangzhou to the west, with both coastal and mountainous terrain.
