Vahdat is a city in western Tajikistan, about 15 kilometers east of the capital city of Dushanbe, and is part of the Republican Direct Zone. Originally known as Yangibazar and Kofarnihon, the city was renamed Tursunzadeh in 1996 in honor of the poet Mirzo Tursunzadeh, and changed its name to its current name, Vahdat, meaning "Unity", in 2003.
