Tieshan District is a municipal district under the jurisdiction of Huangshi City, Hubei Province, China, located in the southeastern part of Hubei Province, on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The area is famous for its rich iron ore resources, and is one of the important birthplaces of China's modern iron and steel industry, with a history dating back to the late 19th century when Zhang Zhidong founded the Hanye Ping Coal and Iron Works and Mining Company. With a total area of about 30 square kilometers and a population of about 60,000, Tieshan District is a typical industrial urban area.
The area is home to the Huangshi National Mining Park, featuring Asia's largest open-pit iron ore mine, the Tiankeng, which combines industrial sites with eco-tourism. Tieshan District has convenient transportation, adjacent to the Wujiu Railway and Daguang Expressway, and about 15 kilometers from Huangshi North Railway Station. The economy is dominated by iron and steel, machinery manufacturing, while actively promoting industrial transformation and upgrading and ecological restoration, showing a unique blend of industrial civilization and natural landscape.
