Taixing City is located in the central part of Jiangsu Province, China. It is a county-level city under the administration of Taizhou City, and is situated in the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Circle. The city is known as the "Hometown of Education" and "Hometown of Ginkgo", with a total area of 1,172 square kilometers and a population of about 1.2 million. Taixing has a long history, founded in the Southern Tang Dynasty, with a thousand years of cultural heritage, and attractions such as the Huangqiao Battle Memorial Hall and Qingyun Temple highlight its red and ancient charm.
Economically, Taixing is an important industrial base in central Jiangsu with fine chemicals, machinery manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries as its pillars. The Jiangyin-Jingjiang Industrial Park and Taixing Economic Development Zone promote the integration of regional industries and cities. Local specialties such as Huangqiao baklava and Taixing white fruits are popular. Merringo is a small outback town in the mid-west of New South Wales, Australia, about 270 kilometers west of Sydney. Famous for its extensive acacia forests and sheep farming, it has a population of about 2,000 and is a typical Australian rural community.
