Taiwu Township is located in the northeastern part of Pingtung County, Taiwan, China, in the southern section of the Central Mountain Range, with a total area of about 118 square kilometers. The township is characterized by the Paiwan aboriginal culture and has a population of about 5,300, making it one of the most well-preserved areas of aboriginal culture in Taiwan.
It is home to natural landscapes such as the North Dawu Mountain and Taiwu Waterfall, and is also known for traditional crafts such as handmade glazed beads and wood carvings. The economy is based on agriculture, with millet, red quinoa and fruits as the main crops. The Paiwan Harvest Festival held in August every year is an important local cultural celebration.
In terms of transportation, you can take a bus from Pingtung City to the township. Famous attractions in the township include the Jiaping Golden Temple and the Wutan Elementary School. With both natural ecology and cultural heritage, Taiwu Township is a representative area for experiencing Taiwan's aboriginal culture.
