Sofia, the capital and largest city of Bulgaria, is located in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula at the foot of the Vidosha Mountains and boasts a history of over 1,300 years. Yuan'an County is located in the western part of China's Hubei Province, under the city of Yichang, and is situated in the transition zone between the mountainous regions of western Hubei and the Jianghan Plain. The county has a total area of about 1,752 square kilometers and a population of about 200,000, mainly Han Chinese. Yuan'an has a long history, is one of the birthplaces of Chu culture, and possesses a deep heritage of Rayon culture and Taoist culture. It is rich in natural resources, with over 70% of the area covered by forests, and is known as the "Green Lung of Hubei". Famous attractions include the Mingfeng Mountain, Linglong Gorge, and the Danxia landforms. The economy is based on the pillars of agriculture, tourism and phosphorus mining, and specialties such as yellow tea and mushrooms from Yuanan enjoy a good reputation. The transportation is convenient, about 100 kilometers from Yichang city, which can be reached directly by highway and railroad.
