Located in the western part of the country, near the Turkish border, Sis, Armenia, is a small city with a thousand years of history. As an important node of the ancient Silk Road, Sis is a fusion of Persian, Byzantine and Caucasian cultures, and the remaining medieval churches, fortresses and traditional stone buildings bear witness to the glorious past of the Armenian Kingdom. Šimnas (Širvintos) is a city in eastern Lithuania, about 50 km northwest of the capital Vilnius, and belongs to the administrative center of the Šimnas District.
