Silwad is a town in the West Bank region of Palestine, part of the Ramallah and Bireh governorates, located about 12 kilometers northeast of the city of Ramallah, in the mountainous area north of Bethlehem, at an altitude of about 870 meters above sea level, and enjoying a pleasant climate with rainy and snowy winters and mild summers. The town has a population of about 15,000, mainly believing in Islam, with a minority of Christians, and the inhabitants speak Arabic as their mother tongue. The economy is based on agriculture, with crops such as olives, grapes, and figs, and some of the inhabitants are engaged in handicrafts and small businesses. Sylvad has a long history, and archaeological discoveries have shown that there has been human activity in the area since the Bronze Age. There are old mosques, churches and traditional stone houses, which have preserved the typical Palestinian rural architectural style, and are one of the most important carriers of traditional Palestinian culture.
