Shuangbai County is located in the southern part of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, China, at the eastern foot of the Mourning Firmament, and is a multi-ethnic county inhabited predominantly by the Yi people. Its geographical coordinates are 101°03′-101°45′ east longitude and 24°13′-24°55′ north latitude, with a total area of 4045 square kilometers. The county town of Toudian is at an altitude of 1,960 meters, with a subtropical highland monsoon climate and an average annual temperature of 15.2℃.
Shuangbai is known as the "Hometown of China's Yi Tiger Culture", and owns the national intangible cultural heritage "Yi Tiger Sheng". It is the origin of the Yi epic poem "Cham", and has preserved rich Yi language and folklore activities. Every year, the Tiger Cultural Festival is held from the eighth to the fifteenth day of the first month of the lunar calendar, attracting a large number of tourists and showcasing the unique ritual dances and farming traditions of the Yi people.
Shuangbai has a high forest coverage of 84%, and owns the Dinosaur River State-level Nature Reserve, which is an important treasure trove of biodiversity in Yunnan. The main industries include high-quality roasted cigarettes, walnut planting, black goat farming and green food processing. In recent years, relying on the ecological advantages of the "green sea in the middle of Yunnan", Shuangbai has vigorously developed eco-tourism and recreation industry, and has become a featured node on the golden tourism line of Kunchu Dalixiang.
Shuangbai is 58 kilometers away from Chuxiong City and 180 kilometers away from Kunming City, and is connected to the surrounding areas through National Highway G227. The main tourist attractions include Baizhushan Ecological Tea Farm, Jiutian Wetland, Cham Lake Park and Ejia Waterfalls Group, of which Baizhushan Tea has been awarded the National Geographical Indication Certification. Local specialties such as Yi embroidery, goat soup pot cuisine and B&B experience constitute a unique tourist attraction.
