Shihe is a city district under the jurisdiction of Xinyang City, Henan Province, China, located in southern Henan Province, located in the upper reaches of the Huaihe River Basin. The district is named after the Shihe River running through the territory, is the political, economic and cultural center of Xinyang City. Shihe District has a long history, dating back to the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, with a rich cultural heritage and natural landscape.
The region covers a total area of about 1,782 square kilometers and has a population of about 600,000 people. The economy is based on agriculture, industry and tourism, producing tea, rice and other agricultural products, Xinyang Mao Jian tea is particularly famous. Shihe District has convenient transportation, Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Ningxi Railway and a number of highways throughout the territory, connecting major cities in China.
Tourism resources, including South Bay Lake, Jigongshan and other natural attractions, as well as ancient temples and historical sites, attracting many tourists. Overall, Shihe District is a blend of tradition and modernity, focusing on ecological development of livable areas.
