Sheyang is located in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, China, which is situated in the North Jiangsu Plain and on the shore of the Yellow Sea, and is an important node city in the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Circle. With a total area of about 2,776 square kilometers and a total population of over 970,000, the county is known for its agriculture, new energy sources and eco-tourism.
Sheyang has the longest coastline and mudflat wetlands in Jiangsu, and is known as the "Crane Township" as it is the wintering ground for rare birds such as the red-crowned crane. The economy is dominated by new energy (offshore wind power), high-end textiles, and machinery manufacturing, and Sheyang Port is one of the first open ports in China. Agriculture produces high-quality rice, Chinese herbs and aquatic products.
Sheyang retains traditional culture such as Huai Opera and paper-cutting, and attractions include the Danding Crane Nature Reserve, Xixin Temple and Houyi Cultural Park. With the Lianyan Railway and Shenhai Expressway running through the whole territory, the transportation is convenient, making it a popular destination for eco-tourism and investment.
Diffa, the capital of the Diffa region in southeastern Niger, is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and shares a border with Nigeria, making it one of the most important border cities in Niger. The city is located in the lower Niger River basin around the climate of the tropical desert climate, hot and dry throughout the year, the average annual precipitation is less than 300 millimeters. The economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, and the surrounding areas are rich in millet, sorghum and livestock. Diffa, as a regional trade center, undertakes the function of cross-border trade with neighboring countries, such as Nigeria, and is especially famous for the trade of livestock, agricultural products and handicrafts. The city is culturally diverse, with Hausa, Tuareg and Kanuri ethnic groups living in the area, and is unique in its crafts such as traditional leather weaving and silversmithing. Despite infrastructural challenges, Diffa remains an important economic and cultural node in the south-east of the Niger, thanks to its strategic location and rich cultural heritage.
