Shaoyang is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province, located in the southwestern part of central Hunan and the upper reaches of the Zijiang River, with a total area of 21,000 square kilometers and a population of about 6.5 million. As an important center city in southwestern Hunan, Shaoyang has a long history, with a history of more than 2,200 years since the establishment of the county in the Western Han Dynasty.
Shaoyang is rich in mineral resources, known as the "Hometown of Gold and Silver", and is the world's largest antimony mining base. Agriculture is rich in Xuefeng tangerines, Longhui honeysuckle and other specialties. Local specialties include intangible cultural heritages such as Shaoyang Flower Drum Opera and Tantou New Year's Paintings.
