Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Gansu Xiongguan Pass, or Jiayuguan Pass, located in Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province, China, is the starting point of the western end of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty, and is known as "the most majestic pass in the world". It was built in the fifth year of the Ming Dynasty (1372), with a history of more than 600 years, and is an outstanding representative of ancient Chinese military defense projects. Jiayuguan Pass is situated in a dangerous terrain, with the Black Mountain in the north and the Qilian Mountain in the south, guarding the throat of the Hexi Corridor, and was historically an important pass on the Silk Road.
Jiayuguan Pass City consists of inner city, outer city, Luo city, urn city and other parts, the building is majestic, well-preserved, showing the ancient craftsmen's skill. There are also historical buildings such as Guerrilla General's Mansion, Well Pavilion and Wenchang Pavilion, as well as legends such as "Striking the Stone, Swallowing the Sound" and "A Piece of Brick", which add to the cultural charm of the fortress. Nowadays, Jiayuguan Pass has become a world cultural heritage and a national 5A-level tourist attraction, attracting many tourists to feel the weight of history and the magnificent scenery of the northwest.
Surrounding attractions include the Hanging Wall, the First Pier of the Great Wall and the Wei Jin Tomb Complex, which together form a rich cultural tourism experience. The majestic passes of Gansu are not only an epitome of Chinese history, but also an important symbol of Chinese civilization.
