Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Xiangxiang, a county-level city in Hunan Province, is administered by Xiangtan City. It is located in the central part of Hunan Province, in the middle reaches of the Lianshui River, and has been the "Pearl of Xiangzhong" since ancient times. As a thousand-year-old county, it was founded in the Western Han Dynasty with a history of more than 2,200 years, and is one of the important birthplaces of Hunan culture. It is known as the hometown of Hunan Army, and is famous for the rise of Hunan Army in the late Qing Dynasty. Famous ministers such as Zeng Guofan and Liu Jintang all came from here, and the spirit of Hunan Army, which is to "set up a hard fortress and fight to the death", has had a profound impact on the area. The Dongshan Academy in Xiangxiang is the place where Mao Zedong studied as a young man, and is now a national key cultural heritage unit, witnessing the ups and downs of China's modern history. Today, Xiangxiang is a charming city that combines historical heritage and modern development, while preserving its ancient townscape and non-heritage folklore (e.g. Xiangxiang Tantou New Year's Paintings), and continuing to write a new chapter in the new era with the economic vitality of the "Top 100 Counties in China".
