Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Wushan County is located in the southeastern part of Gansu Province, China, northwest of Tianshui City, in the upper reaches of the Wei River, an important route on the ancient Silk Road. The total area is about 2011 square kilometers, with a population of about 500,000 people. Wushan County is an agriculture-oriented county with a national vegetable industry, and is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Chives".
Wushan has a long history of human activities as early as BC, and is one of the birthplaces of Qin culture. The county has the famous Waterfall Cave Grottoes, a treasure of Buddhist art in the Northern Dynasties period, which is famous with the Maijishan Grottoes. Wushan is also an old red revolutionary area, where the Red Army's Long March once passed through.
Wushan has beautiful natural scenery, Danxia landforms, hot springs and alpine grasslands. Major attractions include Wolniu Mountain Forest Park, Hot Spring Resort and Shimen Snow Mountain. The Wei River flows through the county, creating a unique river valley landscape suitable for eco-tourism and outdoor adventure.
Wushan is known for its green agriculture, with an abundance of vegetables, Chinese herbs and fruits. The local jade carving craft is famous, and Wushan Yuanyang Jade is one of the four famous jades in China. In addition, Wushan rotary drums and other folk cultures are listed as intangible cultural heritage, showing strong local characteristics.
