Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Located in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, Wugui Mountain is an important ecological barrier and provincial nature reserve in the western part of the Pearl River Delta. The main peak is 531 meters above sea level and stretches for dozens of kilometers, named after the five peaks that look like osmanthus flowers. With a forest coverage of over 90% and a southern subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest ecosystem, it is known as the "green lung of the city" of Zhongshan.
Wugui Mountain is not only an important water source on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary, but also carries a deep historical memory of the revolution. During the Anti-Japanese War, it was the main activity base of the Pearl River Column, and there are many revolutionary sites and memorial halls. The area is home to well-known attractions such as the Easy Valley and Dajian Mountain, which combine mountaineering and hiking, ecological sightseeing, red education and religious culture, attracting a large number of tourists and study groups to visit every year.
It is about 20 minutes' drive from Zhongshan city and is connected to the Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Highway through Chenggui Highway and other main roads. The best season to visit is spring and fall. Recommended experiences include hiking to the sea, visiting the Revolutionary Memorial Hall and tasting Hakka cuisine, making it a popular destination for short-haul eco-tourism in the Pearl River Delta region.
