Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Located in the central part of China's Yunnan Province, Tonghai County is part of Yuxi City and is situated in the central Yunnan Basin, known for its long history, rich culture and natural landscape. The region has a subtropical highland monsoon climate with four seasons of spring, making it suitable for tourism and residence.
Tonghai has a deep historical heritage and is one of the important birthplaces of ancient Yunnan culture. There are numerous cultural relics and monuments in the area, such as the Xiushan Ancient Architectural Complex and the Tonghai Temple of Literature. The area is inhabited by many ethnic groups, such as the Han and Yi, and is culturally diverse, with traditional festivals and handicrafts (e.g., silverware making) that are unique.
The economy is based on agriculture, with an abundance of roasted tobacco, vegetables and fruits, as well as tourism and light industry. Tonghai Lake (Qilu Lake) is one of nine highland lakes in Yunnan Province, providing important ecological and tourism resources. It is strategically located and conveniently connected to major cities such as Kunming.
Popular attractions include Xiushan Park, Tonghai Lake, and historical and cultural neighborhoods, drawing visitors to experience both natural beauty and human heritage. Tonghai focuses on ecological protection and is committed to sustainable development, and is an important environmental protection demonstration area in Yunnan Province.
