Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Ordos is located in the southwestern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, neighboring Jin, Shaanxi and Ningxia provinces, which is the phonetic translation of "Palace Tent Group" in Mongolian. The city has a total area of 87,000 square kilometers, integrating the vast Ordos Plateau, Mao Wusu Sandland and grassland landscape. As an important national energy base, Ordos accounts for one-sixth of the country's coal reserves and one-third of the country's natural gas reserves, and is known as the core hub of "China's Energy Corridor".
Ordos is one of the regions with the most complete preservation of traditional Mongolian culture, and the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan is the world's most famous Mongolian sacrificial shrine. The annual Naadam Convention focuses on horse racing, archery, pugilism and other national sports. The city has made remarkable achievements in ecological construction, with the Kubuqi Desert governance model becoming a global model for desertification prevention and control, and the greening coverage rate of the urban area exceeding 40%, which has won the title of "National Forest City".
Relying on energy advantages, Ordos has formed four pillar industries, namely, coal, electric power, chemical industry and cashmere products, among which Ordos cashmere sweater production accounts for one-third of the country and one-fourth of the world. As the first 4A-level tourist attraction named after the core area of the city, Kangbashi New District has become a Netflix hotspot with its modern urban planning architecture and characteristic Mongolian cultural square. 2022 GDP per capita exceeds 250,000 yuan, ranking among the top in the country.
